The Teufel Ikonio is a striking all-in-one speaker that impresses above all with its combination of design, power and room-filling sound. Thanks to its three speaker sections and two subwoofers, it sounds much bigger than you would expect from a single device. The wide soundstage fills the room with music, while the deep bass and clear details ensure that both quieter songs and more powerful tracks come into their own.

The new IKONIO streaming speaker is no ordinary device, but a true powerhouse capable of reaching 19 Hz and delivering up to 2,500 W of peak power, along with an SPL approaching 120 dB. Eight speakers, three sound dispersion profiles, wired connectivity and the option to pair two speakers in stereo: this is one seriously capable device.

After several weeks, what stands out to me most is how the IKONIO manages to combine two things that don't always go hand in hand: a still-reasonable size and genuinely impressive power.

As soon as the music starts playing, you understand why Teufel has packed so many speaker drivers into a single cabinet. The IKONIO sounds remarkably full, giving the low, mid and high frequencies enough room. Busy tracks with many layers remain clear and well organized.

The bass is particularly impressive. According to Teufel, the two subwoofers reach down to 19 Hz, and at a sufficiently high volume, you can actually feel it throughout your body. At the same time, the bass doesn’t overpower the rest, so vocals and subtle details remain clearly audible.

The IKONIO fires sound in three directions, resulting in a remarkably wide soundstage. That sometimes makes it hard to believe that all the audio is actually coming from a single device. Place a HomePod next to it, and the latter suddenly sounds remarkably narrow.

The figure that best sums up its approach is 650 watts RMS, distributed across eight speakers and eight independent amplification channels, with peaks of up to 2,500 watts of maximum power. This setup allows it to reach as low as 19 Hz with a drop of just 6 decibels, which in everyday use translates into bass you can feel in your chest without the need to add a separate subwoofer.

What immediately stands out is just how incredibly full the speaker sounds. You can really hear the benefit of having separate subwoofers, midrange drivers and tweeters: every frequency has the room it needs to breathe. The subwoofers also go surprisingly low: they reach 19 Hz, and you can feel it. But perhaps the most impressive thing about the Ikonio is how widely the sound reaches. Thanks to its three speaker directions, you could swear you’re listening to a stereo pair when sitting directly in front of it – until you open your eyes again.
