Discover 3-dimensional sound

All loudspeakers in the set share an identical tuning and sound the same. An enveloping surround sound is the result. Even the centre speaker contains the same drivers as the front and rear speakers – a unique feature of Teufel surround systems.

Slender columns for easy living room integration

All loudspeaker in the Definion range are designed with a slender form that tapers towards the back. The elegantly varnished real wood cabinet in either anthracite or white perfectly enhances the speaker’s graceful shape. The system’s restrained exterior gives even the largest components in the set an inconspicuous and elegant appearance that looks at home in any interior.

Not only does the Definion’s design look good, it has sound optimizing qualities, namely that of discouraging the formation of standing waves.

This surround set requires an AV receiver to be used. It amplifies and distributes audio and visual signals. If you do not already have a compatible AV receiver, you can find many options under our accessories category or complete sets in our home cinema category that come prepackaged with a receiver.

Our Berlin-engineered SCA Coaxial Enclosure

Teufel spent two and a half years developing the Definion 3's unique flat diaphragm coaxial enclosure. SCA (Synchronized Coaxial Acoustics) technology allows it to act as a single point sound source, ensuring the least possible lag between midrange driver and tweeter.


Nearly all output frequencies reach the listener's ear at exactly the same time, resulting in particularly authentic and natural sound production.

Sound dispersion
As in nature, sound events are perceived as a single source. Sound is dispersed uniformly for identical audio at various listening positions.

Tweeter and Midrange driver
The tweeter and midrange driver are fused together into a single element. This leads to a superior sense of space than can be achieved with a separate tweeter.

Flat diaphragms
Flat diaphragms avoid constricting the tweeter sonically.  It agitates air particles naturally on a single plane It prevents interference and produces more precise sound as a result.

CFRP diaphragm with wok cones on all woofers.

Wok woofers are so named because they lack protective dust caps in their center and so resemble the deep pans that are their namesake. CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers) gives the wok woofer diaphragms in the Definion range a highly stable structure while keeping them very lightweight, which benefits precision in the bass range. This allows the diaphragms to have cutoff frequencies as low as 50 Hz in conjunction with the Precision Channel. Astounding for a speaker only 14 cm wide at the back.

Neutral, balanced and true-to-source

Another advantage of the three CFRP enclosures is that they have an incredibly wide output range. The result is very harmonious and coherent performance up to middle ranges. From there, crossover gently transfers duties where most optimal for the SCA coaxial enclosure.

At the end of this harmonizing process, we get a very flat frequency response for identical output in all sound ranges with a particular focus on powerful bass performance so it can reproduce even bassier music styles in a way that sounds fun.

Designed for eyes and ears

The use of three smaller woofers made it possible to endow the Definion 3 with a slender form. No longer do high-end loudspeaker need to declare their presence with cumbersome enclosures and ostentatious designs. Today's high-end speakers are defined by their sound. The Definion 3’s sleek design makes it easy to position the speakers in most rooms, and yet the elegantly contrasting anthracite and white lacquered wooden cabinets accented with metal elements make these speakers design elements in their own right.

This centre speaker shares the same tuning as the Definion 3 and Definion 3S. An enveloping surround experience is the result. Two bass drivers support the same patented coax driver unit shared by all Definion speakers for excellent speech intelligibility.

For the first time Teufel offers a subwoofer that can be configured in either front- or down-firing modes. Don't let the 150-Watts fool you. The new Class-D amplifier's high efficiency and extremely low noise mean it can go toe-to-toe with any 300-Watt amplifier.

    Precision bass reflex system

    A completely redesigned bass reflex systems uses a precision channel that eliminates nearly all of the problems that often occur with bass reflex systems. The precision channel‘s innovative qualities include:

    • A low crossover frequency to the SCA driver
    • The elimination of wind noise though a larger channel size
    • Special constructed molding and curvature of the channel for a deep resonance frequency

    The exact dimensioning of the bass reflex channel ensures that the air rushing through it extends the bass range exactly where the woofer’s low end leaves off.
